He is Your Comfort

Psalm 121

A song of ascents.

I lift up my eyes to the hills where does my help come from?  My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.  He will not let your foot slip he who watches over you will not  slumber;  indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.  The LORD watches over you the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Those of you who know me know that this is one of my favorite verses of scripture.  I was reading a hospital blog this morning of a little boy who is frequently on my prayer list, Alex Hopkins.  I am not sure how old Alex is right now, maybe 7 or 8.  He has Kidney Cancer and is not doing well.  This is a note from Alex's Mom on his site ...
"Alex's body is getting very weak. The Dr.'s have told us that there is little hope for Alex to continue his life on Earth. Of course they can not predict a time, but the Dr.'s think that he may have a few weeks to a few months. We are not giving up on him. Please continue to help us pray for a miracle!"

Please say a prayer for Alex today and for his family.  It just breaks my heart what this Mom and Dad are enduring.

As I was reading Psalm 121 I was thinking about life's struggles ... health problems, depression, the lonely, sadness, bad marriages, good marriages, financial problems, teenagers, youth, the emotionally scarred, the physically beaten, the rich, the poor, the disabled, the wounded, the weak, the weary, life, repentance, death ... JESUS!

The meaning and the answer to it all.  Even when you think you just can't go on anymore - call on Jesus.  Cling to Scripture.  Don't give up ... did you ever hear the expression, Rome was not built in a day?  Life's problems may not be solved with that first prayer lifted up, but God is moving and working ... don't give up.

Have a blessed Wednesday ... please remember to pray for Alex.  Love, Tracy

Finding Your Faith In Jesus

Psalm 61:8
"Then I will ever sing praise to your name and fulfill my vows day after day."

Did you ever just feel like the storms in your life were never going to end? What is the solution? Where did you turn? Did you try to fix the problem yourself? How did that work? Usually, when I am in that situation, I place a Band-Aid on my problem that usually falls off! Most of the time, God is taking us through a storm for more than one reason. Maybe to grow closer to Him, to prepare us for another storm, or maybe to help someone else as a testimony to what the Lord has brought us through! He allows us to struggle through it to prepare us for the future. Once we realize that God is in control and He knows our needs, we can fully surrender to Him and He will lead us in the way we need to go. Most of us try to hold on to situations and we create more of a burden on ourselves then there had to be.

Have faith in our Savior that was born and died just to cover a sin debt that was not His! Don't fear God's direction for your life - He will lead you down a path that will bring you closer to Him. Allow yourself to loosen the reins of control and give it all to God. Let's not place a limit on God's ability to bring wonderful things into our lives. When He does, we must also give all the Glory to Him! A testimony to those around us as to how huge God's love is for us! Dive into the Word of God. Study. Learn the truths so you will know where to go when your load is heavy. He is speaking to you today. How long will it take us before it sinks in? Jesus is the answer - He is all we need to have peace within our hearts. God knows our hearts. He knows if we are real or if we are just going through the motions. Turn your life over to Him today and He will guide your steps. I pray He touches each of you today and leads you where He wants you to be. I pray you are still and hear His voice. Have a great day today.  Please continue to pray for Terry, Rich, Shirley, Lauren, Steve, Bill and so many others that are fighting the cancer battle.

You Can

Proverbs 3:5
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding. "

We are frequently told to walk by faith.  It is hard.  We hold on to the promises of God not because they seem likely, for at times they don't, but because they come from God and it is not possible for God to lie.

Sometimes it is so hard to believe that everything will work out, but if we would just leave it in God's hands, we will have peace.  It is like the book The Little Engine That Could, I think I can ~ I think I can ~  I think I can ... it will take three things, trusting in the Lord,  to believe in the Lord and to receive the blessings of the Lord.  Jesus Christ is the answer to all you need! He is the answer.

I pray He has touched your heart and given you peace about your answer! Trust, Believe, Receive and Peace like a river will flow over you.  Have a great Friday, invite someone to church with you this Sunday.  Please continue to pray for

Being A Friend

Hebrews 10:23-35

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

This verse talks about surrounding yourself with people that are of like faith.  Or in our day as a teenager, we need to "hang" with the right crowd.  I can remember when I was is my early teens and my mother would say "pick and choose your friends wisely?"  I never really understood it then, but now I do!  I've had a few talks with my children about this because as they become a teenager they can be "charmed" into doing things that are out of character.  The week before spring break I received a phone call from my sons teacher.  She was very upset because my son had acted out of character that day and was not well behaved for a teacher he did not normally have.  She was saying how it made her look bad when her students misbehaved in another class.  While I agreed with her 100% and I was thinking about how I was going to handle this I thought about my own Mom and how she would say "I never had a runny nosed kid, how you dress and how you act are a reflection on me."  Ugh, I felt like crawling under a rock.  I got into my car and spoke to my son about the phone call and as we were speaking I thought, yes this is a reflection on me and how I parent my child, but my son is old enough to make his own choices and his own mistakes and he will have to work through his consequences for his actions.

As I was thinking back  on that conversation with his teacher this morning, I was thinking about our relationship with Jesus.  When we are acting out of character and not walking with the Lord - it is much like that ~ I wonder sometimes if the Lord just sits in Heaven and just shakes His head!  Everything thing we do in life has consequences. I am so glad I have people in my life that will keep me on the straight and narrow.  Helping me, not by judging me, but in an encouraging way! That is a true friend.  I am so thankful for that.

I hope you all have a good Thursday.  Please continue to pray for Steve, Shirley, Rich, Lauren, Bill and Terry.  Love, Tracy

I Can Do All Things
"If we are faithless,  he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself."
2 Timothy 2:13 NIV
The Message writes it like this ... starting with verse 8-13
"Fix this picture firmly in your mind: Jesus, descended from the line of David, raised from the dead. It's what you've heard from me all along. It's what I'm sitting in jail for right now—but God's Word isn't in jail! That's why I stick it out here—so that everyone God calls will get in on the salvation of Christ in all its glory. This is a sure thing:

   If we die with him, we'll live with him;
   If we stick it out with him, we'll rule with him;
   If we turn our backs on him, he'll turn his back on us;
If we give up on him, he does not give up—
for there's no way he can be false to himself. "
I love this little devotional I have written by the speakers of the Woman of Faith Conferences.  Sheila Walsh writes ... I don't always understand what the Lord is doing in and through my life. And yet God in his faithfulness holds on to us when we "don't like the plan." God still loves, still goes after, still stands true and faithful. Even if we are faithless, he promises to remain faithful."

Because we don't always understand.  My niece would have been 9 today.  A very hard day for my sister and her family because my niece passed away 3 months and 2 days after she was born.  We don't always understand.  There are just somethings in our lives, certain valley's that we will experience and may never understand "why" but through it all our Lord is faithful to us and through it all He will get us through each passing day.
I watched this video this morning on GodTube.  A Chritian alternitive to YouTube.  The father in this video http://www.godtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=8cf08faca5dd9ea45513 is a hero to me.  This family is "team Hoyt"  Many of you may have seen them in recent years on the news.  "The goal of Team Hoyt is to integrate the physically challenged into everyday life. One way to accomplish this is to educate the able-bodied, making them more aware of the issues that the disabled face every day. Another is by actively helping the disabled to participate in activities that would otherwise be inaccessible to them. Team Hoyt targets both of these areas."  We can look at ourselves and our problems and throw ourselves a pity party, take a look at this video and some of us can just say - thank you Lord.  I can do all things - through Christ!  You can and you will get through it with Jesus at the helm.
I hope you all have a great Wednesday.  Happy Administrative Professionals Day!  Please continue to pray for Rich, Steve, Terry, Bill, Shirley and Lauren.

Prayer of the Day "Cry Out To Jesus"
Proverbs 2:1-6

"My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding."

When you don't know where to turn - when you don't know what to do, turn to Jesus. When we keep our eyes upon Him, He will guide and direct us. It is when we take our eyes off Him and place our eyes on our circumstances that we fall into the valley.   Jesus should not be our last resort - He should be our constant adviser.
I remember this movie I watched one time.  It was a little weird, but it was about the end of time.  A man in the movie says "where were the warnings? Why didn't anyone say anything?"  I can remember thinking, that is probably what a lot of people will say! That really stuck with me, because people can get so caught up in our day to day activities that we don't see the warnings. But the Lord says it is so - so it is. Will the rapture happen in our life time? I don't know. He says in Revelation, no one knows the day or the hour...we just must be prepared. Are you prepared? Is your relationship with Christ personal enough? Are you living a life pleasing to Him? Are you doing all you can to tell people about God and the sacrifice Jesus made for you? He loves you and wants things to be personal!
Open God's Word and read about the home He has prepared for us. Read about His promises and blessings.   I hope you all have a great Tuesday.  Please continue to pray for Shirley, Rich, Terry, Steve, Bill and a lady named Lauren who just found out her cancer is in stage 4 and has spread, not stage 1 as they originally told her.  Thank you all!  Count your many blessings.  Love, Tracy

Searching For God

"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a
day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day."  2 Peter 3:8

As I read this verse I was thinking about my Mother and Father, it feels like a huge amount of time has passed since I spoke them ~ actually it has only been 4 and 3 years (respectively).  To someone who has lost someone they love, especially a child,  I think time here feels like "an" eternity (small e). It feels like we will never ever get through it. But I believe when we reach Eternity (capital E), It will feel like time has stood still! There will be no more sense of urgency. Just an Abundance of Joy filling our Souls!    We'll be reunited with the ones we love and we'll be with Jesus.  Our life is set up for one huge day when we leave this earth and spend Eternity with Jesus. Not in our timing, but in His.
We don't know the plans God has for us, we are here to make the most of this life, living for Him each day - taking it a day at a time. Being the best we can be! His Love, Mercy and Grace for us is what gets us through. I pray that Jesus will touch your heart today and that you feel that tug of encouragement to change your life and live for His desires and plans for you. I pray you are challenged to be all you can be for Christ.   Have a blessed Monday.  Please continue to pray for Shirley (not doing well), Steve, Rich, Terry and Bill.  Love, Tracy

Jeremiah 29:11-13

"For I knows the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." AMEN.

Where is your hope today? You can find it right here in the Lord. Do you know just how much God loves you and wants to fill your life with JOY? He knows the plans for your life. No matter how much we try to direct things our way, if it is not God's plan for us we are not going to be happy or fulfilled. Seek God's Will for your life-His plans are not always our plans....but in the end-His plans are always much better! Don't put a limit on what God can do in your life. Whether it be physically or spiritually!

I can remember my Mother singing this when I was little ...
I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart.
Where?  Down in my heart! Where?  Down in my heart! I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart, down in my heart down in my heart to stay.  As I got older I learned more verses ... I've got the peace that passes understanding, Down in my heart, Where? Down in my heart! Where? Down in my heart! I've got the peace that passes  understanding, down in my heart - down in my heart to stay.  I've the got love of Jesus, love of Jesus  Down in my heart, Where? Down in my heart! Where? Down in my heart! I've the got love of Jesus, love of Jesus down in my heart, down in my heart to stay.

Once you have it ... it stays!  Pray to make that personal - one on one with Jesus today.  I hope you have a great mid-week!  It is hard to believe that we are in mid-April 2008 already!  Please continue to pray for Shirley, Steve, Rich, Terry and Bill (all battling cancer).  Love, Tracy

Somewhere Over The Rainbow - There Is a Beautiful World!

Colossians 2:13
"When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins."

Sometimes in life you may feel like a failure.  We have all probably failed at something or let someone down in our lives. We have to understand, that failing does not make us failures! The Lord gives us so many opportunities to learn from our mistakes and to grow with each situation. To learn not only how to not go down that road again, but gives us the desire not to go down that road again. With His Grace, love and His patience with us we grow closer to Him. We have many opportunities - to learn and to grow closer to God - do we use them? A few questions we can ask ourselves each day ... What am I doing to grow closer to God? What am I doing to be a witness for the Kingdom of God? Am I telling people or am I a living example of Christ's love?

Remember these words - Just because I fail, does not make me a failure!   I love the song sung by Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz, Somewhere Over The Rainbow.  I heard a new version on American Idol last week and I liked it too.  It is by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pe5p1BXNCQM.  It is a combination of Somewhere over the Rainbow and What a Beautiful World.  I can just picture a clear blue sky with this beautiful rainbow in it.  It is not so much the lyrics to the song, but what a rainbow means!  God's promises.

"Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.

Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

"What If It God Speaking?"

James 4:13-15,
"Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this
or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make
money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow.
What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and
then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's
Will, we will live and do this or that."

There is a season for everything. It may be a job we love or a home we love that God removes us from to unexpectedly place us somewhere new. We may wonder why, but eventually (if we are open to Him), God reveals what He has for us. We can now see why we've gone through the trial. Praying daily, we should thank God for each blessings, as well as the trials! Jesus will always have a blessing in everything we face. We have to look for it.  In a trial the blessing is He is bringing us closer to Him. Revealing things that need to be changed in our lives. In the good times, the blessings are a reward for being faithful to Him with a sincere heart.

We don't know what our future holds. Why God has us where we are. But He does. We need to trust Him and allow Jesus to guide us. Seek His will for our lives and pray that we follow His will and not our own. Review your life with Him today, ask the Lord to guide your steps. To keep you on that narrow path. Ask Jesus to reveal to you things you need to change - you may resist the change at first, but know all things should be done to glorify Christ, not ourselves! I love you all. I pray that the Lord has touched your hearts.  May God bless you ~ abundantly!  Listen for His voice.  Love, Tracy

There Is Hope

"In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."  John 16:33 NIV

In today's time there is so much hurt and sorrow. I think we can get caught up in our problems and forget that God is in control. Nothing surprises Him. He knows our thoughts before they are even happening. I think this verse is such a wonderful reminder, that yes, there are going to be hard times for us. BUT God is STILL in Control!! He will bring us through. We just have to turn to Him and ask Him.

This is another night where I am having trouble sleeping so I figured I would get up and read God's Word.  The other night I wanted to watch a movie I had seen before - I knew I had a copy but could not find it.  My friend had borrowed it and was so nice to drive it over to my house that night so I could watch it again.   If you have not seen the movie Facing The Giants I highly recommend it!  What an inspirational movie.   The Giants in this movie were actually the name of a football team, but more than that it was about facing "your giants" in life.  obstacles you face, fears, trials, circumstances ~ facing them head on with God instead of alone.  The last scene of the movie, the coach says to his team (paraphrasing) ... you've accomplished so much of what "people" said could not be done ... now you tell me ... What is impossible with God?  Their reply each time ... "nothing coach"  Then he went home to his wife, who was about to share with him (after four years of trying to conceive) that she was expecting their child.  She asks him, you tell me coach ... what is impossible for God?  His response was "Oh God, I am so overwhelmed!"  I know this was just a movie ... but it is so true in many of our lives.  The giants we face sometimes seem so hard to face, but nothing is impossible for God!  Even when you don't get it, who are we to question?  I know I can sit behind a computer as you face your trials and ask you to just trust God, easy for me to say because it is not my circumstance, yet I've had my share of my own and when I tell you nothing is impossible with God it is TRUTH.  We may not get the answer we want to hear.  It may be a no, it may be you have to wait, the healing may come in heaven and not on earth, but that is life, be faithful and trust His unseen hand.  When I watched that movie, it cleared my fears of future unknowns, a reminder to me that Jesus is on the throne and His love for me overwhelms me, but it is by His Grace that I am saved!  I make lots of mistakes, but his loving conviction leads me back to Him each and every day and I will praise Him in the storm no matter how difficult.

I love you all, listen to the voice of truth.  I love the words to this Casting Crowns song, get out of your comfort zone and listen for God's voice.  Have a blessed day today (tomorrow!).  Please continue to pray for Rita, Shirley, Rich, Steve, Terry and Bill.  Love, Tracy

"Voice Of Truth"

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes to climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone
To the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out his hand

But the waves are calling out my name and they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. 'Boy, you'll never win!'
"You'll never win"

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
And the voice of truth says "Do not be afraid!"
And the voice of truth says "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a Sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

But the giant's calling out my name and he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again "boy, you'll never win!
"You'll never win"

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them looking down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Trust and Obey ... For There Is No Other Way

Psalm 26 1-3
"...I have trusted in the Lord without wavering. Test me, O Lord, and try me, examine my heart and mind; for your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth."

Are you ever in the midst of a trial where you find your self worrying day and night over an issue, losing sleep, always on edge and then you finally just say, God, I just can't take it any more. You have such a sense of relief, you've given it to God to handle. Finally, you get a good night sleep. Then wake up the next day and you feel guilty that you've slept! You've just taken it back! Why do we say we're going to trust God at every turn and then we try to control "the worry" of the situation? Then we are surprised when God works it out! I am so guilty of this. I give it to God, I know I trust Him. Somehow I guess I just feel like if I worry about it God will resolve it faster. Isn't time we learn that all things happen in God's timing, not ours. We need to trust in Him and not try and create our own destiny.

Psalm 23:4 says "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me." We may have to go down to the valley, but the Lord will meet us there! He will carry us up and bring us (once again) through the trial. Just something for us to think about! God Bless you today.

I hope you all have a blessed day today.  Invite someone to church with you this Sunday.  Please continue to pray for Rich, Rita, Shirley, Steve, Terry and Bill.  With many thanks,  Tracy

Hebrews 13:5

"I will never leave you; I will never abandon you."

I read this story in a book I have called God Speaks.
A Church once sent a man to spend two months as a volunteer at Mother Teresa's mission in Calcutta, caring for India's sick, poor, and dying. He left on his mission with great joy... a dream come true.   Standing by a luggage carousel in Bangkok, forty hours later, he felt anything but elation. Somewhere between South Korea and Thailand, his luggage had been "misdirected." His nerves worn raw by sleeplessness, he collapsed into a nearby chair and wondered, Was this trip a mistake? He felt as lost as his bags.   As his eyes wandered around the walls of the lobby, which was mostly empty owing to the late hour, he noticed a row of clocks on one wall. They displayed the time in London, New York, Sydney, and Bangkok. He quickly noted that it was noon at his home church ... and it was Sunday.   His church had promised to pray for him at noon services that day. They're praying for me right now, he thought. And with that realization came a tremendous peace. I'm not alone now. And I won't be alone in the months ahead!"

Isn't it a wonderful thing when the Lord grants you peace in the midst of a storm?  When we come to God with a clean heart, He is with us, hearing our prayers and working on our behalf. When your circumstances start to bring you down ... look up! God is there. He is the only thing in our lives we should never doubt-He is always there for us. It is up to us to always turn to Him. He loves you and He loves me and wants us to draw closer to Him each day. What will you do today to feel God's presence? Will you run to Him or away from Him? Run to Him-His arms are open wide!  Nothing is too big or too small for our Lord to handle.  Nothing.

Have a blessed day today, please continue to pray for Rita, Steve, Rich, Terry, Bill and Shirley (cancer).  Please also lift up Debbie in prayer she has some health problems and unspoken requests.  She will be having surgery this week.  Counting my blessings ... are you?  Love, Tracy
